How does your medical alert system work?
- Whenever you press your medical alert button, we attempt communication with you through the unit. If you are unable to communicate through the unit, we call on your home/cell numbers. If there is still no communication, we begin the response procedure without communication. Whether we speak to you or not, we have your response procedure in place, and will send assistance immediately.
What if I don't hear well?
- Communication is not required to obtain assistance. What is most important to us is getting the signal. As soon as we receive the signal, rest assured that help is on the way. If you have our in-home unit, we know your address and contact information. If you have our mobile device, we track your location, and send assistance to you at that location.
I don’t want the Paramedics dispatched every time I press my medical alert button.
- We are not about just dispatching 911 EMS. When you begin service with us, we ask exactly how you want your response procedure handled. For example, if there is no communication, we can dispatch 911 EMS and notify your contacts. If you don’t want EMS dispatched, we will have your contact list on file, and will reach out to them to assist you.
What if my door is locked?
- You can provide us with a hidden key location or we offer a lock-box option. The lock-box is a steel box that hangs from your front or back door with your key(s) in it. We will program a code of your choice into it, and if we must dispatch help to you, we give them your lock-box code for quick and easy access into your house or apartment. No need to waste time breaking a door, door lock, or window.
I am very active, and I am out and about frequently. Will the unit work outside?
- We have mobile devices that will work outside with GPS tracking.
What if I am unable to press the medical alert button?
- We have the fall detector option. There is no need for you to press the button.
Can the medical alert system be taken to different locations?
- For those subscribers who have our in-home units and visit family members for extended periods of time or are Snowbirds, our in-home units work anywhere in the United States. Simply notify us of your new location and the contact info for that location, and we can monitor you from any location within the United States.
- For those subscribers who use our mobile devices, we can detect your location with GPS Tracking.
I have a pacemaker, is it still safe to wear a medical alert button?
- Thousands of our subscribers have pacemakers. All of our medical alert systems are completely safe to wear with a pacemaker. If you have any concerns, consult your cardiologist.
What happens if I press my medical alert button by accident?
- Simply let us know when we respond that there is no emergency.
How do I know if my unit is working?
- Test your unit as often as you’d like. Simply press your medical alert button and inform us that you are testing when we respond.
- We recommend that you test your device at least once per month.
Do I have to pay for the equipment?
- The equipment is provided to you as part of our service, so there is no charge for it. The only cost is a monthly monitoring fee which provides you with protection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What if I want an in-home unit and do not have a landline?
- You do not need to connect the unit to a landline. We have cellular in-home units that do not require a landline connection.
How long is the response time?
- The response time for our Operator to contact you is under 60 seconds, and the average response time is 25-30 seconds.
Is there a long-term contract?
- There is no long-term contract. You can to cancel the service anytime by simply notifying us and returning the medical alert equipment.
