How does your medical alert system work? What is the Advantage of your Monitoring service and Emergency Care Specialists vs. calling 911?
- Whenever you press your medical alert button, we attempt communication with you through the spesker box or GPS Pendant. If you are unable to communicate through the unit, we call you on your home and or cell numbers. If there is still no communication, we begin the response procedure even without communication. Whether we speak to you or not, with a Medical Alert System we have your response procedure in place before you have a fall and will send assistance immediately as well as contact your emergency contact list that you provided!
- Emergency Monitoring Care Specialist are HIGHLY trained to quickly respond to emergencies and available 24\7\365!
- They can among other things (1) immediately begin the emergency response protocol by asking questions regarding your fall or emergency. (2) Very importantly, they provide a calm and caring voice in an emergency. (3) They can view user provided medical information to assist First Responders. (4) Tell First Responders Emergency Teams (EMS) which Hospital is preferred. (5) Provide the location of your spare key or your FREE Lock Box for quick entry to avoid an unecessary forced entry. (6) They can alert family and friends that an emergency is in progress. (7) If requested, call a DESIGNATED 1st Responder (a very nearby family or friend) if the user does NOT require an emergency service. This 1st Responder is called prior to dispatching emergency 911 and ambulance...avoiding the need for them. (8) Help the user TEST their equipment anytime, plus more!
What if I don't hear well?
- Communication is not required to obtain assistance. What is most important to us is getting the signal. As soon as we receive the signal, rest assured that help is on the way. If you have our IN-HOME unit, we already know your address and contact information. If you have our MOBILE GPS - SMART GO, we track your location, whether at home or away, and send assistance to you at that location while calling your emergency contact list.
What if I don’t want the Paramedics dispatched every time I press my medical alert button?
- We are not only about dispatching 911 EMS. When you begin service with us, we ask exactly how you want your response procedure handled. If there is no communication, we can dispatch 911 EMS and notify your contacts. If you don’t want EMS dispatched, we will have your emergency contact list on file, and will reach out to them to assist you.
What if my door is locked?
- You can provide us with a hidden key location or use our FREE Lock Box option. The Lock-Box is a metal combination lock that hangs outside your home with your key(s) in it. We will program a code of your choice and if EMTs are called, we provide them your Lock Box code and location for quick and easy access into your house or apartment. NO forced entries! You may also advise us of your already hidden key, if you prefer.
I am very active, and I am out and about frequently... will my unit work outside?
- We have mobile devices that will work outside every where you go, with GPS tracking and FALL ALERT!
What if I am unable to press the medical alert button?
- We have Fall Alert detection with both our In-Home and GPS systems. You can still get HELP even if you can not push the pendant.
Can the medical alert system be taken to different locations?
- For those subscribers who have our IN-Home units and visit family members for extended periods of time or are SNOWBIRDS, our IN-Home units work anywhere in the United States. Simply notify us of your new location and the contact info for that location. We can monitor you from any location within the United States.
- For those subscribers who use our mobile devices, we can detect and find your location with GPS Tracking. It is also best to advise us if you are planing an extended trip.
I have a pacemaker, is it still safe to wear a medical alert button?
- Thousands of our subscribers have pacemakers. All of our medical alert systems are completely safe to wear with a pacemaker (no magnets are inside). If you have any concerns, consult your cardiologist and call us.
What happens if I press my medical alert button by accident?
- Simply let us know when we respond and speak to you that there is no emergency. There is never a charge from us for pressing your button.
How do I know if my unit is working?
- Test your unit as often as you would like. Simply press your medical alert button and inform us that you are testing when you hear our monitoring agents respond.
- We recommend that you test your device at least once per month. There is never a charge from us for pressing you button.
Do I have to pay for the equipment?
- There is NO charge for equipment like some other companies. The equipment is provided to you free as part of our service. The only cost is a monthly monitoring fee which provides you with protection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year!
What if I want an In-Home unit and do not have a landline?
- You do not need to connect the unit to a landline. We have Cellular In-Home units that do not require a landline connection and simply plug into any electriacl outlet...just like a toaster. NO TECHNOLOGY required.
How long is the response time?
- The response time for our monitoring agent to contact you is generally under 35 seconds, and the average response time is 20-25 seconds after the initial response signal.
Is there a long-term contract? What if I need help to set up and TEST my equipment?
- There is no long-term contract. You can to cancel the service anytime by simply notifying us and returning the medical alert equipment.
